To guide the management of our farm over the next several generations, we have developed an evolving 3 part goal to help us move toward ever increasing sustainability.

1. QUALITY OF LIFE

To live in harmony with, enjoy, love and respect the whole creation and our Creator.

Specifics:

  • Create a nurturing atmosphere where everyone, and everything is accepted for who, and what they are, will be and what we are becoming together.
  • Provide opportunity for children to live on the land, if they desire.
  • Provide educational opportunities, and meet community responsibilities.
  • Make time for family, friends, neighbors, recreation and to do things well.
  • Maintain good physical, mental, emotional and spiritual health.
  • Work at the farm being self-sustaining and diversified.
  • To become debt free.

2. FORMS OF PRODUCTION

To support the quality of life defined, we must be involved in enterprises that are profitable. This profit may come from livestock, crops, recreation, services, or any other enterprise that does not harm the quality of life we seek.

Products that we produce will be wholesome, natural, and marketable.

We will assist in supporting an aesthetically pleasing environment that provides open space, solitude, clean air and water, which encourages neighbors of all sorts.

3.  FUTURE LANDSCAPE

Lines of fruit, nut and other trees will follow the contour and boundaries of the land providing erosion control and diversity to the strips of crops and pasture paddocks with several small ponds in low lying areas to capture run off water for livestock and wildlife. This same pattern is to be applied appropriately to each individual eighty acres of the three presently owned and applied to the whole 160 acres presently owned by Cedric Olson.
